چکیده

Water and salinity stresses are the major environmental concerns limiting crop production, particularly in arid semi-arid ecologies. Focused research is required to develop mitigating strategies manage such stresses. Application of plant-bioregulators (PBRs) may be an effective option water Therefore, a field experiment was conducted during 2016–17 2017–18 at saline site NW (north-western) India assess effectiveness salicylic acid thiourea easing out adverse effect variable deficit irrigation regimes. Increasing its significantly (P<0.001) reduced all studied growth parameters, viz. plant height, stand, no. tillers, leaf area index relative rate; yield attributes like spike length, grains/spike, grain weight/spike, 1000-grain weight, specific weight. either or improved parameters comparison control proved more effective. Thiourea application by 3.96 17.36%, biological 4.21 14.82%, tillers 3.77 11.91%, weight/spike 2.83 15.17%, weight 3.72 12.66% 2.04 8.84% compared control, respectively. This might due better nutrient uptake, relations, enhanced CO2 fixation partitioning assimilates. Thus, wheat found as under stress.

Potassium induced salinity tolerance in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

Water culture experiments were conducted to study the response of ten wheat genotypes to external K application (10 mmol KCI dm3) at seedling stage under saline condition (0 and 100 mmol NaCl dm3). The data showed that there was an increase in the shoot and root length with the application of external K. The increase was more pronounced under control than under saline conditions. The better per...

Effect of Salinity Stress on Grain Yield and Grain Quality in Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Lines

The effects of salinity stress on grain quality traits of wheat were investigated using 180 lines of F5 generation in two environments (normal and salinity stress). A randomized complete block designs with three replications was used in each of the environments at the Research Farm of the Agricultural and Natural Resources Research Station of Isfahan in 2019-2020 cropping season. Grain yield, p...

Physiological assessment of drought tolerance in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) varieties under moisture stress conditions

Drought is one of the major limiting factors in wheat production in Pakistan. Five commercial wheat varieties; Chakwal-97, Inqilab-91, Margalla-99, NR-234 and Wafaq2001 were grown in pots in glasshouse. Plants were subjected to three consecutive drought cycles at tillering, pre-anthesis and milky growth stages by withholding water till leaf rolling started. Measurements of physiological respons...

Response of Chlorophyll, Carotenoid and SPAD-502 Measurement to Salinity and Nutrient Stress in Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

Abiotic stress can alter key physiological constituents and functions in green plants. Improving the capacity to monitor this response in a non-destructive manner is of considerable interest, as it would offer a direct means of initiating timely corrective action. Given the vital role that plant pigments play in the photosynthetic process and general plant physiological condition, their accurat...

Gibberlic Acid and Salicylic Acid Effects on Seed Germination and Seedlings Growth of Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Under Salt Stress Condition

Seedlings establishment at early growth stages of crop plants is severely affected by soil salinity. Therefore, high germination rate and vigorous early growth under salty soils is preferred. In this study germination and seedling growth of a wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivar was assessed using three replicates of 50 seeds in a factorial laid out in two separate experiments as Completely Ra...
